At some point of time in your life, you must have had the opportunity to present in front of a host audience. Be it in front of your schoolmates, classmates in college or colleagues in the office, there is one universal feeling of nervousness that hovers over our lives. Can’t you recall that heartbeat speeding up, that nervous walk around the corridor, that anxious wait before your name is announced, those sweaty palms and forehead?
We all have been through those times, and we all have had our fair share of received advice from people. From the generic “don’t worry, everything will be alright” to the highly professional “if you forget something, just strike the space bar in your laptop harder, it’ll make you appear more confident!” Let’s face it, the first impression is indeed the last impression. That is precisely why so many courses in the same field are being offered that claim to develop the required interpersonal skills, which are the prerequisites for an awesome presentation. Well, we ask you,“ why to opt for a course when you have this article from presentation specialists ?
But Why Take Advice from a Presentation Specialist? I Am Pretty Charismatic!
Yes, we totally understand that some people are more charismatic than others, but that’s not all. Presentation skills are different interpersonal skill sets that only develop after a lot of practise, especially at the professional level because there shouldn’t be any scope of mistake. Starting from body language to voice modulations, every little thing plays a huge role while you are presenting in front of a host of audiences! All of these and much more fall under the category of presentation skills, which is why advice from a presentation specialist is nothing but helpful. Do not worry, you can totally develop these skills if you are ready to put in a little extra effort and hard work.

Tell Me Where To Start?
You must always remember that all these skills are of no use when you don’t have an awesome presentation at your disposal. Presentation skills will definitely breathe life into the presentation, but in order for it to do its magic, the presentation needs to have the soul! A compelling and visually appealing presentation paired with polished and precise interpersonal presentation skills has the capacity to turn the tables.

How to Overcome the Pre-Presentation Panic Phaze?

Now that you have a brilliant presentation ready, half of your nervousness should have been dissipated already! As presentation specialists, we can assure you that whatever remains would be mitigated after following these points:
- Rehearsal Session: It is just like appearing for pre-boards before the actual examination. A run-through of an entire session is absolutely necessary if you don’t want to startle yourself on the final day. We would advise you to practise on the actual venue if possible, along with all the accessories and gadgets which you would be requiring on the final day.
- You Won’t Require A Script: Memorizing a script for the presentation would not only make you sound mechanical, but it may also make you appear under-confident about the topic. To top it all off, the probability of you forgetting the actual lines of the script will be at an all-time high. This will make you all the more nervous!
- Do This Instead: Instead, you should note down the USPS of your presentation topic and familiarize yourself with those. Let’s be honest, your audience will be more interested in the takeaways rather than the history of your company.
- Get Into Audience’s Shoes: If you are already familiar with most of the audience of your presentation, then that will be a vantage point for you! Take a pen and note down all the prospective questions which the audience is likely to ask. Rehearse with your colleagues if possible and ask them to interject and shoot you with questions. Even the presentation specialists at EZ value the feedback of both their customers and their colleagues, a lot! The more point of view, the better!
- Self-assessment is the Key: Record your rehearsal session and assess yourself. Analyse the areas where you need extra effort and get set and roll!
On the Final Day of Presentation

Do NOT Appear Overconfident
We totally get that you have rehearsed well, you have an awesome presentation, but overconfidence can be a spoiler. And if you are feeling overconfident, your body language will signify that. Do not:
- Sit cross-armed,
- Speak at a fast pace or
- Be over-expressive.
Instead:
- Stand up and move around a little,
- Lean a little when you are explaining things,
- Have an endearing smile and always face the audience! It can work magic.
- Your Gestures Must Be: Natural, Expressive, Enthusiastic and Friendly. Remember, nobody in the room knows what you are going to say or how you are going to present. Nobody will be waiting for you to goof up! Hence, stop overthinking, put to meddle on to peddle and go for it.
- It’s Absolutely Okay: It’s absolutely okay if you forget something. Apologize and start over. Don’t start panicking and jump to another point. Your content will be all intertwined and one pint will lead to another. You might skip something important, which will make you more nervous. We are humans, after all!
Post-Presentation Relaxation Phase

As presentation specialists we bet that if you keep these points in mind and follow them during your presentation, you will have a post-presentation relaxation phase and not a stress phase. Still, you can always make it more meaningful:
- Feedback Session: You shouldn’t shy away from asking the audience about:
- How was your presentation?
- Were they able to comprehend every argument of yours?
- Were you able to substantiate your arguments with proofs and examples?
All answers to all these questions will act as your feedback from presentation specialists themselves! We wish you all the very best, until then!
